Nerikomi duck pitcher

After making very wonky looking images previously with nerikomi, I decided the best way to try and make them without them warping is to just not reduce the cane at all. Each part of the image being built up will have to be super long in order to make multiple images.

I changed the color of the duck’s pupil to black instead of white, and I didn’t reduce this cane at all, I just make it very long.

Even though the image is blurry, it will be clearer later when cleaning the surface with metal - the cutting wire tends to smear the image.

Before making a slab, I did some sketches, then made a simple paper model, which I then disassembled to use as a stencil.

I cut the circles into squares so they could make a slab, then I rolled it out, using my paper model to cut out the pieces. I decided later to use extra slab to make a flared foot.

I stacked and molded the pieces together, forming the top part into a pouring spout.

Now the form is finished - the last step is to burnish it with a stone. This will make it so I don’t have to glaze the outside but it will still feel smooth and not seep in much water.
