These are sold in pairs (1 circular guinea pig stick holding tray, 1 ash-catching half-moon tray), but are part of a whole.
The text on the ash-catching tray is copied from Leviticus 26, “Punishment for Disobedience”. The stick-holding tray has obscured text of the verse from Matthew: “Are not two sparrows / sold for an assarion? / and yet not / one will fall / to the ground / before your Father”. The guinea pig sculptures form a stop motion animation of a pig melting. This project is dedicated for people who loves animals no matter how small they are.
Handmade nerikomi ceramic objects; the colors on the trays come from multiple layers of colored clay stacked, rolled, combined, and cut to reveal a pattern. The resulting slab is used to make a brightly colored plate. The guinea pig sculptures are also sculpted from colored clay, and minimal details painted on.
